Monday, April 16, 2007, started like any other Monday at Virginia Tech, with professors and students preparing for another busy week of classes.  However, the gruesome events that unfolded on campus, amounting to the worst school shooting in US history, left a lasting impact on those who lived through it.  A work of great personal courage, Devils & Dust is Alex Tardiff’s semi-autobiographical novel of his descent into a crippling and almost suicidal depression.  Conveying depression’s torturous progression and the full terror of its impact on the psychic landscape, Tardiff uses the experiences and struggles that he and his friends dealt with in the aftermath of the ordeal.
